Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Check SSL Expiry

1. Log in to your SmartHostee client area or cPanel.

2. Navigate to SSL/TLS Manager or SSL Certificates section.

3. Locate the certificate and check the expiry date.

Most SSL certificates are valid for 1 year, while some may be valid up to 2 years.

Step 2: Renew the SSL Certificate

1. In the SSL section, click Renew for the expiring certificate.

2. Confirm the domain name for the certificate.

3. Complete payment if required (some certificates are free via Let’s Encrypt).

4. Follow prompts to generate a new CSR (Certificate Signing Request) if needed.

Step 3: Install the Renewed Certificate

1. After renewal, download the renewed SSL files (certificate, CA bundle, private key).

2. In cPanel, go to Install SSL on a Domain.

3. Paste or upload the renewed certificate files.

4. Click Install Certificate.

cPanel and most automated hosting platforms may handle this step automatically for free SSL certificates.
